Fishing the Bitterroot

Located in Ross’ Hole on the East Fork of the Bitterroot River, Camp Sula exists within one of most prolific and enduring ecosystems for native trout on Earth. Our accommodations are less than an hour’s drive from the Wise, Big Hole, and Salmon Rivers, with premier access to both forks of the Bitterroot. Legendary creeks and mountain lakes dot the map around Camp Sula, each brimming with a mixture of Cutthroat, Bull, Brown, and Rainbow trout.

For those looking for a more curated fishing experience, Camp Sula offers a connection to the best guiding services in Western Montana, and an on-site fishing pond stocked with hungry fish.

Ski & Snowboard

Camp Sula offers premier access to Western Montana’s cross-country, downhill, and backcountry skiing and snowboarding opportunities. Lost Trail Ski Area and Chief Joseph Ski Park are less than 15 miles from our accommodations (review our Ski & Stay packages!) and the chair lifts of Montana Snowbowl, Maverick Mountain, and Discovery Basin are all less than a two-hour drive from Camp Sula.

There are an abundance of recreational areas for snowmobiling and snowshoeing, as well—and our front desk is always happy to provide guests with more information about when, where, and how to enjoy the snow.

Lookouts & Hiking

Situated between several sprawling National Forest and wilderness areas, Camp Sula is also a short distance from the Continental Divide Trail, and is a haven for hikers of all levels. The Bitterroot, Anaconda Pintler, Pioneer, Beaverhead, and Sapphire mountain ranges each offer a plethora of challenging peaks, including fire lookouts and 360-degree views of Western Montana and Idaho.

Camp Sula’s general store carries maps and other necessities for whatever outdoor adventure you’re seeking, and our friendly, knowledgable staff is happy to provide advice and guidance before you hit the trail.
